Our latest survey shows that HOLIDAYS are IMPORTANT to our members!  39% of you cited TRAVEL as one of your main interests outside of work.

BUT just how much could the average holiday cost in 2024?

Here's what you need to know if you're planning a holiday this year.

Harp and Crown CU social poll

Harp and Crown conducted a poll on our social media channels during summer 2023, asking you how much you spent on a holiday (maximum 4 people) that year.

The figures suggest the average spend of your holiday was between £2,000 - £4,000.

(38% spent between £2K to £3K whilst a close second 36% spent between £3K to £4K).

Average costs of a holiday

The average cost of a holiday in 2023 was around £4,678. This figure is up by around £2,000 from 2022 showing that people spent more on holidays despite the difficult financial situations faced during the cost-of-living crisis.

Holiday cost increases

Next year it is predicted that there will be a sharp increase in all expenses for a holiday. This is due to the rapid increase in consumer demand for travel. Check out these top 30 tips on how to save money on your holiday in 2024.

Northern Ireland holiday destinations

With temperatures set to be even hotter next year compared to this year’s warmest summer on record many people can be seen staying closer to home for their holidays. For a Northern Ireland travel guide and ideas on what to do visit The Times. However, keeping it local and holidaying in Northern Ireland is perhaps not always the cheaper option, with a huge rise in costs, especially North Coast destinations and the price of rentals.

Save and plan now to fund your trip!

When we asked our Instagram followers how they funded their holiday in 2023, a majority 58% said they lifted from their savings, whilst 33% took out a loan with their credit union. We encourage our members to “save as you borrow” with a minimum of £10 per month required to keep your account active.  Why not set aside an extra £10 or £50 per month to help save towards your next holiday.

Need a loan to help book you dream holiday?
