Meet the team - Nikki

Nikki is a keen runner (starting her running journey in 2020 when the gyms were closed).  She had read ‘What I Talk About When I Talk About Running’ and thought "I would give it a try as an outlet for my mind!"  

Nikki ran her first non-race half marathon distance in honour of her mum whose birthday is 21st February (21.2 - close to the Half Marathon distance in kms!).

"I had signed up for Cardiff Half Marathon and raised funds for Shelter Cymru, but unfortunately it was postponed so I ended up running Antrim Coast as my first race- which is a fabulous route!"

Nikki is working her way through the Superhalf Marathon Series - Cardiff and Lisbon (completed), Prague (April) followed by Berlin, Copenhagen and Valencia. 

AND if that isn’t enough to exhaust you just reading this...Nikki is training for her first FULL MARATHON distance in London (April) over her BIRTHDAY weekend! 

Nikki also practices yoga, utilises the strength equipment and treadmill at Newforge Gym (great for rainy day training). 

Given it’s also Nutrition and Hydration Week we’ve pictured Nikki with her all important HAC water bottle to keep hydrated! Nutrition and hydration is key for Nikki to have enough energy for her long runs, with energy gels and electrolyte drinks added into her training routine!
