Harp and Crown Credit Union donate to Beyond the Battlefield

L-R Robert McCartney, Chairperson of Beyond the Battlefield and Annemarie Hastings, CEO of Beyond the Battlefield are presented with a £1,000 donation cheque from John Montgomery, Harp and Crown Credit Union Secretary.
As the Harp and Crown Credit Union celebrates its 25th Anniversary year, we are delighted to announce our support of several local charities. One of which provides a very important service to the police family in Northern Ireland.
Beyond the Battlefield, based in Newtownards and Portavogie areas, is a charity which aims to assist serving and retired members of the Police, Navy, Army, RAF and Emergency Services.
Their expert volunteers provide practical help and advice regarding post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), war pensions, benefits, housing, medals, funerals and more.
John Montgomery, Harp and Crown Credit Union Secretary said:
“As a police family organisation, the Harp and Crown Credit Union fully appreciates the incredible and important work of Beyond the Battlefield. It is heartening to know our donation will go towards helping assist serving and retired members of the police and we would encourage any of our members to reach out should they need this important service.”
Robert McCartney, Chairperson of Beyond the Battlefield noted, “when I set up Beyond the Battlefield it was important for me to ensure that when working with veterans, we also included members of the emergency services. Receiving this donation from Harp and Crown Credit Union Limited has further cemented my view that our approach to be there for all veterans, military and emergency services was correct from the outset”.
Annemarie Hastings, CEO of Beyond the Battlefield, said “it was a welcome surprise to be offered this substantial donation by Harp and Crown Credit Union Limited. This donation will go towards helping to run our veterans centre ‘Harbour House’ in Portavogie which offers homeless and respite support to the many veterans of the armed forces and the emergency services in Northern Ireland”.
