World Mental Health Day 2022

It's World Mental Health Day today, Monday 10th October.

According to a UK and force-wide survey in 2018 by the University of Cambridge, results showed that close to 1 in 5 police officers/staff in the UK had symptoms consistent with complex PTSD, yet over two-thirds of those suffering were unaware.  This figure could be even higher now in 2022.

In 2020 it was reported by Belfast Telegraph that more than 500 PSNI officers were forced to take time off work due to stress-related illness over the last year.

If you know someone who is struggling right now, please check in with them.  Mental Health Foundation Northern Ireland have shared important information on how to support someone else with their mental health.
